Ducati – Favourite Model?

Ducati was founded back in 1926, and the company is well-known for its presence in the world of motorbikes. You may have seen some of their bikes in the MotoGP World Championship, where the no. 43 Jack Miller and no. 63 Francesco Bagnaia currently rides for the team.

However, you don’t need to be a MotoGP superstar to get your hands on one of their bikes, as they have a great range available for sale.

Read on as we take a look at our favourite models!..

Ducati 916

The Ducati 916 is widely considered one of the best bikes that the brand has ever built. It features a V-twin motor, and the styling is a Tamburini masterpiece. This bike is considered the poster boy of motorcycling’s golden era. This is when track days were beginning, and motorbike sales were booming. Where the 916 really shines is when you up the pace, as hanging off the bends becomes second nature. The desmo engine provides a fantastic visceral riding experience, with the booming soundtrack from the V-twin engine really topping it all off.

Ducati 996

The 996 is based on the earlier 916 model. It was manufactured between 1999 and 2002. Three different versions of the 996 exist; the 996SPS, which was for Europe only, as well as the 996 with Ohlins suspensions, and the base version, otherwise known as Biposto. The bike has a six-speed transmission, a torque of 93 Nm (9.5 kg-m) @ 8000 rpm, a power of 112 hp (82.3 kW) @ 8500 rpm, and a top speed of 161 mph.

Ducati 998

Now, we have the final variation of the 916 Ducati. The 998 was the successor of the 996, and it was made from 2002 to 2004. One of the biggest upgrades was the replacement of the Desmoquattro engine with a Testastretta engine. In 2001, Ducati introduced the 996R version of the bike, with the 998cc Testastretta engine. There were a lot of similarities between the two, yet the Testastretta was completely new from the crankshaft up.

Ducati 748 s

Finally, we have the 748s, which is another incredibly popular bike from Ducati. This sports bike was made between 1994 and 2022, as a smaller displacement version of the classic 916. It was actually designed years before the 916 was, but it didn’t go into production until the bigger bike was released. The 748s provides better handling when compared with the 916 version. It was also more affordable without much power being compromised. While a lot of people prefer to add the 916 to their collection today, the 748s is not to be sniffed at. It has its own place in history and delivers an incredible ride experience.
