Motorbike Shows
Eckington Classic Car and Bike Show
This show, put on by the Chesterfield Rotary Club, is an incredibly popular event. The show has no trade stalls; it’s purely to admire wonderful classic bikes and cars. If you want to show off your bike, it’s £5 per vehicle, and if you just want to go along to see what’s there, it’s £3 – a great price for the amount you can see. It takes place on 18th June 3-8pm at Renishaw Hall.
Classic Car & Bike Show at the Shoulder
Taking place in July, this is a great pre-2000s performance machine show to attend. With a wonderfully friendly atmosphere, welcoming all types of vehicle enthusiasts, young or old, it’s a great pub with food served 12-6 and a well-stocked bar.
All-Year Motorbike Events
Scenic Sites to Check Out:
- Surprise View: On the A6187 from Sheffield to Hathersage – look out for the spot known as Surprise View, where you can suddenly see a panorama of the Peak District. There’s a car park in the area where you can go exploring on foot, too.
- Stanage Edge: A beautifully scenic spot, particularly lovely and peaceful if you go at quiet times of the day.
- Chatsworth: A fantastic historic house and grounds that’s a popular tourist attraction (for good reason!). There are a few great motorbike routes leading to it, too, so you can really make a day trip out with your bike.
Indian Motorcycle Sheffield
A great mix of demo days, festivals, and ride-outs – all focused on Indian Motorcycles. They take place all around the country and throughout the year, so keep an eye out for where they’re heading next!
Sheffield & District Advanced Motorcyclists Club (SAM)
They meet up at 9am every Saturday and have a club night at Treeton Miners’ Welfare Club on the first Monday of each month. There’s a chance to catch up with friends and learn about SAM business – often, a speaker is organised, too! They also have courses for beginners and advanced riders to participate in throughout the year – just check out the website.
Peak Dale Motorcycle Club
This was initially set up for children who couldn’t afford their own bikes or had nowhere to ride legally and in a safe environment. They provide a motocross bike track for anyone to enjoy ages 4-OAP and is entirely run by volunteers.
Biker Haunts
Tri Bites Café
This is a great biker haunt as it’s a café run by bikers! There is hot and cold food and a large flat car park, so there is plenty of space for your ride, and everyone is welcome. There is a bike night every Thursday all year round, and anyone can turn up and join in and become part of the wonderful community that has been formed here.
Navigation Inn
With masses of parking, this is a great place to stay the night, let alone pop in for a drink. Perfectly positioned amongst some great motorbike rides and scenery, it’s worth taking your pit stop here and soaking up the view.
