Motorbike Shows
The Scottish Motorcycle Show
The largest motorcycle show (and Scotland’s only indoor motorbike event) is coming to Edinburgh! Head to Edinburgh’s Royal Highland Centre on March 8-9th, 2025, for everything motorbike. Details are still to be confirmed for next year’s event, but you can expect to see simulators, Q&A sessions, trade stalls, demonstrations, and more. They even have special speakers, such as Carl ‘Foggy’ Fogarty, who was at the Ducati stand all weekend this year! With over 15,000 people attending every year and hundreds of stalls and events to see, it’s certainly a date to get on your calendar.
The Horsepower Festival by Clyde Competitions
If you want to have a day celebrating everything motor, then head over to Central Park Stadium, Cowdenbeath, on 18th August. Prizes, food stands, kids entertainment, and show motors galore – at only £5 for an adult, it’s a great trip out. You’ll need to register, but if you have a car or bike that’s worth a look, why not put it in the show?
Clyde Competitions often have events throughout the year; they also held The Kingdom Classic Auto Show at the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum in Dunfermline on 21st July. So keep an eye out for any interesting dates.
All-Year Motorbike Events
Borders Motorcycle Road Trip
There are many motorbike routes around Edinburgh and Scotland in general, and they’re full of fun roads and beautiful scenery. If you’re based in Edinburgh, why not try out the A701 from Moffat to Edinburgh (or vice versa!) which is well worth doing. Moffat is considered the motorbike heart of the area – a picturesque place to stop and home to the burial place of John McAdam, a leading man in tarmac creation.
National Museum of Scotland
Edinburgh is home to the marvellous National Museum of Scotland – filled to the brim with history, science, and culture. It’s open daily from 10-5, and entry is free. Head to the Science and Technology gallery to delve into mechanical wonders, or check out their photo collection for some motorbikes of bygone days.
Biker Haunts
The Bikers Cove
If you leave Edinburgh without heading to the Bikers Cove, you’ll be ostracised by every biker you meet forever. Well, not quite that bad, but you’ll definitely be kicking yourself. Situated on the coast at Queensferry, it’s a fantastically popular biker haunt. There are regular bike nights, rallies, and talks – the café even offers free Biker Down training throughout the year. There are extended opening hours over the summer, too. The atmosphere is friendly, and all bike; if you need any extra encouragement, it was the winner of the favourite biker café in 2017 and 2021.
Tribe Edinburgh
A motorbike club rather than a haunt, but they arrange meet-ups all over the area and know the best places to go. They also host parties, rallies, and motorbike runs throughout the year. Their expectations for people joining are just to go, join in, and get to know everyone.
