45th Shipley Harley Rally
A fantastic long weekend devoted to music and motorcycles. It takes place 23rd–26th August 2024, though there is some music and entertainment put on for Thursday night for early birds and those who set up the event. Tickets are around £26 (£30 at the door); bring your tent and have some fun at Baildon Rugby Club over the bank holiday.
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride
Dapper attire is a must at this event, and it returns to Shipley in 2024 to support men’s mental health and aid prostate cancer research. The Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride is a worldwide organisation that arranges charity events and motor rides to raise money for good causes. Since 2012, they have raised over US$52.64 million through 959 rides in 105 countries. Make sure you register at www.gentlemansride.com to take part.
All-Year Motorbike Events
Bradford & District Motor Club Ltd
The Bradford Trials Summer series is sponsored by Planit Opticians – these are Wednesday night trials to have some fun and not find a winner. Prizes are instead handed out via a raffle. These are focused on increasing the ‘time on bike’ for people wanting to get into riding and are a great evening for everyone. They’ve also managed to head back to their venue at Malham nr Skipton, which was a huge hit with everyone who attended last time. Make sure you sign up on their website to get your space.
Bradford Industrial Museum
It’s not directly linked to motorbikes, but it’s always worth popping into the Bradford Industrial Museum, which has a nice display of vintage cars. There’s so much to see that it’s easily a day trip out for the whole family. It’s closed on Mondays but open Tuesday -Sunday (11-4 on weekends and 10-4 on weekdays).
Biker Haunts
The Exchange Craft Beer House
A vibrant and engaging space to enjoy a craft beer. This bar appeals to bikers and rock lovers alike, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. There’s also a great fridge selection, so everyone can come and enjoy a drink.
Horse & Groom Inn
As one review says it – “a great little boozer in the heart of Bradford.” This pub has a great outdoor area as well as a spacious enough car park for the bikes. A great place to meet up with friends with a welcoming atmosphere whether you’re a local or a visitor. They have entertainment nights throughout the week, so you’re sure to find something that appeals to you.
We hope this Guide helps you plan your next ride out!
